Principal’s Flyer #20: January 5, 2025
Dear Students & Families:
We are fully back in the swing of the new year. Thank you to our students, families, and staff for a strong return to learning after break. We hope you are all feeling recharged and ready to make strong progress this calendar year. This week we have a full week ahead, with Friday, January 10th being a half day for students and full professional development day for our staff. Students and families are reminded that dismissal will be at 11:10 AM on Friday.
With the impending very cold weather this week, we remind and appreciate everyone making appropriate plans to keep our positive momentum of high student, on-time attendance a priority. Students, if you haven’t made a new year’s resolution as of yet, consider keeping high, on-time (class starts no later than 7:45 AM) your resolution. Once you’re on time and in the groove, you’ll find this sets the tone for a strong academic day from the second you enter the door. Kudos to everyone for doing a nice job this school year thus far.
We have musical rehearsals and a number of athletics ongoing this week, thanks to students and families for supporting a very strong student culture here at NRHS. Put simply, so many stakeholders who have visited NRHS lately continue to comment on how fantastic our students and culture are. We’re seeing Warriors Gear in surrounding towns and visitors from other buildings/organizations routinely comment positively on the character of our students. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for supporting a strong Warrior Culture.
Students, don’t forget to Save the Date for two major winter events: the Winter Wonderland Dance on January 24th, and an 8th Grade Winter Dance on Valentine’s Day on February 14th. Finally, a reminder that Term 2 is set to close January 22nd. Students, thanks for taking advantage of teacher office hours, support, and tutoring opportunities and extra support to close out Term 2 as your best yet this year.
Surveying Students: Interests, Postsecondary Planning, & Social Emotional Health |
Over the next two weeks, we will survey students to help better inform students interests, post-secondary planning, and how they are doing mid-year. Thanks in advance to our students and families for supporting these brief surveys, so we can do the best job possible supporting our students here at NRHS and as they prepare for life beyond high school.
Purple Heart Campus Designation Parent/Survey. NRHS is pursuing a special school designation to support military-connected families. As part of our application, we need some very basic information about any families in our community with associated veterans. That survey will be sent to families at the same time of this memo, and given to students on Wed., January 8th.
Please note this survey is optional, takes about one minute to complete, and we do not pass along your data to external organizations. If any family would like to opt-out of this survey, please just email cyoung@nrsd.org
College and Career Explorations Survey asks questions of students about their career pathways interests, interests in colleges, work and/or vocational interests, and students’ familiarity with college and university.
This survey takes students roughly 5-10 minutes, and will be given in the morning over the next couple school weeks. This information helps inform programs like Early College, AP, MVP, and other programs we feel best respond to our students and communities wants and needs.
If any family would like to opt out of this survey, please just email cyoung@nrsd.org
Social Emotional Survey. Families please be on the lookout for information regarding our routine middle of the year survey for each of your children beginning on Monday, January 13th. As always, information about the survey and participation will be included in that email, which will come from Edumetris and is put together by our Narragansett Regional School District Care Team.
