Principal’s Flyer #11: October 27, 2024

Dear Students & Families:

We hope you’ve enjoyed an outstanding weekend, with fall weather and foliage cooperating nicely this year! Big thank you Ms. Michelle Smith, Ms. Ann Lyons and our many volunteers and families who came out this weekend for a windy AND steller Trunk or Treat!  Again, thank you to all our families for making a fun afternoon happen for so many kiddos, and thank you to Maya Markley, NRHS Theater, and families for putting on an incredibly fun haunted hallways!  Thanks also to Ms. Jamie Charrier, Ms. Jessica McLaughlin and all our NRSD future warriors for coming out to the after school movie on Friday in support of the class of 2026!

Congratulations also to the high school volunteer clubs, which had the honor of presenting a check to the Ellie Fund, an incredible organization here in Massachusetts that provides vital support to individuals and families affected by breast cancer. Every dollar raised helps fund services like transportation, nutritious meals, and childcare, easing the burden for those battling this disease. We’re grateful to everyone who contributed at our home football game this month and we are proud to support such a worthy cause. Together, we can make a difference!  Pictured here is Ms. Katie Donnelly, with alumni Ms. Hannah Rathburn, who will deliver the check to the foundation on behalf of Narragansett. Kudos to this very active club on ongoing outstanding volunteerism and civic engagement.

NRHS & The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)

Did you know that NRHS is a NEASC accredited school?  The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) is an independent, voluntary, nonprofit membership organization which partners with over 1500 public, independent, and international schools in the US and worldwide to assess, support, and promote high quality education for all students through accreditation, professional assistance, and pursuit of best practices. NEASC aspires to provide a process for meaningful, ongoing whole school improvement while honoring the unique culture and context of each institution.

Founded in 1885, NEASC has a long tradition of school improvement across the six states of New England and in more than 85 countries around the world. A globally recognized standard of excellence, NEASC Accreditation attests to a school’s high quality and integrity.  NRHS participates in 10-year accreditation cycles in order to improve our school-wide practice, ensure we are staying on-top data-informed best practices for teaching and learning, and to signal to colleges, universities, and post-graduate vocational programs the rigor of our scholastic programming and program of studies.

As we push into November, we will be surveying parents and families, students, and staff on our areas of strength, the areas we need to improve, and their hopes for NRHS for the next 10 years.  These surveys will take some time to complete, and we sincerely hope you will be willing to provide feedback to us.  Your voice in shaping the vision for NRHS as we begin a new cycle of self-study will be incredibly, incredibly important to serving your needs in both the short and long-term.

  • As always, families can opt students out to the surveys if you so wish. Upon release of the surveys, we will make sure instructions for participating (or not) are clear.

  • Thank you in advance for paying special attention to NEASC updates.  School Accreditation with NEASC is a major undertaking and something we are proud of as a school.  Participation in the accreditation process, when done correctly, will make us a better school for you. To learn more about NEASC, please visit: https://www.neasc.org/’

  • Surveys will be forthcoming in November.
