Principal’s Flyer #33: April 21, 2024
Dear Students & Families:
We hope you’ve had a most enjoyable school vacation week and that you’re feeling recharged for the final stretch of the school year. May into June is always an enjoyable time, AND it is frenetic on all fronts–in terms of the academic calendar, athletics, Advanced Placement and MCAS testing calendar, extracurriculars, celebrations of student scholastic accomplishments and, of course, senior week as well as graduation and prom season. With that said, we’re looking forward to a wonderful spring season at NRHS. At the top of this update, we’d like to remind all AP students to check this AP testing calendar, and families to take a glance at our upcoming MCAS sessions for ongoing planning purposes.
We’d like to take a moment to celebrate our MS and HS Concert Bands as well as our artists for a wonderful spring concert and art exhibition Tuesday before break. Between the turnout for the basketball banquet (congratulations hoopers) and for our Art Exhibition and Spring Concert, it was a vibrant night in the neighborhood. Thanks to everyone for coming out, and kudos again to our bands for a stellar spring concert!
Warriors Cheerleaders are National Champions (and Grand National Champions)! |
Our Cheerleading Team has won the National Championships in Hershey Pennsylvania and also been awarded Grand National Champions (overall score)! Congratulations to this team of outstanding athletes for its ongoing excellence. Beyond athletic talent required to compete, the teamwork, dedication to sport, grit, and the character required to ascend to such a high level speaks volumes about our athletes, their coaches and numerous, numerous supporters of this program. Thank you Coach Hazelton, Coach O’Malley, ‘Gansett Cheerleading supporters and all the future cheerleaders we know have been rooting for this team! Here are photos of our nationals champs!

Bus Evacuation Safety Drills. All families are advised we will hold very brief bus evacuation drills for students this Tuesday (4/23) morning. These drills are brief, routine safety practice to ensure student safety.
GAAP Program: Gansett Alives Alive Program on May 2, 2024
Juniors and seniors will participate in a comprehensive safety program aimed at safeguarding our students during the celebratory prom and graduation season.
This year is shaping up to be one of our largest and most comprehensive GAAP events thanks to the the hard work of Ann Lyons, and support from the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, and demonstrations and/or safety talks from our Templeton and Phillipston Police, Fire, the State Police, and Alyssa’s Place.
Congratulations again to our 2023-2024 Cheerleading National and Grand National Champions! We look forward to seeing all students refreshed and back from spring vacation!
