Principal’s Flyer #30: March 24, 2024
Dear Students & Families:
We’re celebrating Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus students today, who showed outstanding dedication to mathematics and their academics this weekend. In preparation for May exams, AP Calculus students took their “mock” exams in order to get initial feedback on their progress despite the wintry mix we saw on Saturday morning. 100% of students opted in to take the exam first thing on challenging Saturday morning weather wise. You’ll note these students had also voted to hold the exam on this day in order to respect all students’ availability during an upcoming holiday weekend. Warriors: great job for being inclusive and resilient in a challenging class. This type of grit and support of one another will serve you well in Calculus and beyond. Kudos to our Advanced Placement Calculus students!
We would also like to formally congratulate senior Ashlyn Duplessis, who was named NRSD’s Worcester County Superintendent Association 2024 Scholar last Thursday at College of the Holy Cross. In case you missed it on social media, Ashlyn is pictured here receiving her award and with Superintendent Dr. Casavant after our ceremony. Thanks to the numerous families and community members who posted messages on our district and high school media pages. We sincerely appreciate your support of our students' scholastic and athletics endeavors, everyone. Big congratulations to Ashlyn Duplessis!
Finally, a brief reminder that we have no school this coming Friday, March 29th & Thursday is a half day professional development day for students. Dismissal is at 11:10 AM on Thursday, March 28th.
MCAS Student Testing Dates: Thank You for Planning Accordingly |
With spring around the corner, we begin to shift our attention to Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) testing that takes place over several months in the spring. Please be advised of the state requirements for MCAS, and please be reminded that our Grade 10 students will take MCAS for English Language Arts this coming Tuesday and Wednesday. P
Please note that MCAS is a High School diploma requirement, per the state. We ask that all students are in school on time (as usual) and are well rested in preparation for MCAS and arriving with charged chromebooks in hand. Families will note that our rate of both participation in MCAS and passing MCAS - both of which are state accountability measures on which NRHS is judged - are approaching 100%. Thank you to our students and families for your support around this assessment. Sincere thanks to NRHS parents who have been, frankly, wonderful partners in helping us ensure all NRHS students meet this important graduation requirement.
