Principal’s Flyer #25: February 11, 2024
Dear Students & Families:
We hope you have enjoyed some downright balmy weather for a February weekend, with everyone looking forward to winter school vacation next week, from (2/19) to (2/23)! Thanks to NRHS Student Council for putting on Hot Chocolate Day this past week and big shout out to the Volunteer Club for coordinating a drop-off childcare service last Friday so that families could get a pre-Valentine’s Friday night date night on the books! Thanks to Ms. Donnelly and all student volunteers for making this happen despite last minute logistical challenges! Finally, we hope all students enjoyed the Book Fair last week. Thanks to Ms. McLaughlin, Ms. Charrier, and all book fair student volunteers for making this possible. We truly appreciate the time and effort it takes from students and staff to make extra events possible for our wider student-body and families.

Character & Leadership: Sportsmanship & Fan Conduct |
As a special guest speaker, Dr. Joseph Hoedel will address our student body to help inspire our students to cultivate and exhibit character, leadership, and integrity in the school environment and in their wider communities. Dr. Hoedel is known for his organization, which promotes character and leadership among students and student athletes, and has been featured on the news. As an all school assembly, Dr. Hoedel will work with our 8-12 Warriors on Wednesday, February 28th.
Additionally be advised that Dr. Hoedel will talk with our student athletes as a means to inspire our students and parents to exhibit sportsmanship and supportive conduct at athletic events. Dr. Hoedel will be speaking with NRSD student athletes and parents, Murdock student athletes, and student athletes from around three schools with three goals in mind:
To build relationships and good will between are athletes from different communities
To address rising sportsmanship and fan conduct issues in youth sports
To foster dialogue between students and parents about the type of conduct our athletes appreciate, and that will represent our athletic league and school well.

Attention Advanced Placement Students & Families: Please see this important update regarding upcoming end of year AP exams, scheduling, and expectations.
Attention all Families: Student Schedules for 2024-2025 School Year. Be advised that beginning last week and through this week, students have been working on course requests for the 2024-2025 school year. They will have their course requests sheets after having met with counselors to review all courses in our program of studies that we will be running next year. You’ll note that:
Families can make adjustments to electives students have chosen and send them back to students to hand in to our Guidance Department
Current grades 7-9 students tend to have very little elective flexibility, as students are working through basic MassCore graduation requirements
Current 10th and 11th grade students tend to have more scheduling flexibility as they are in the point in their high school careers where they can choose from a variety of specialty core courses and electives as their interests develop
Current 10th and 11th grade students and families interested in taking free college courses should be on the lookout for communication over the next several weeks regarding:
How students sign up for the NRHS Early College program
How families can attend important informational sessions (evening)
And who may be a great fit for the Early College program
Don’t hesitate to reach out to our School Counseling office if you have questions.
