Principal’s Flyer #22: January 21, 2024

Dear Students & Families:

We hope you’re enjoying a chilly but lovely weekend.  Monday will mark the first day of semester two (quarter three).  Any students who will be changing classes because they are half year classes should take a moment and check their schedules this evening and/or tomorrow morning.  Students: we will make sure to announce this…However, a quick check of your schedule can save you time and stress.  Students in any full year courses, please be reminded that your courses do not change.  Report cards will be issued no later than Friday, January 26th in the student/parent (community) portal

A reminder that Monday students will take STAR middle of year literacy and math assessments.  As always, we offer competitive prizes (students you are competing with yourself for growth) as a reward for effort on your STAR assessments.  Students - these assessments help us understand how you are progressing in your learning and what supports we can offer you.  Thanks for putting your best effort into your assessments on Monday AND be advised that among the prizes up for effective effort include tickets to the Wizards game, below!

Finally, as we enter this term three, we’d like to shout out Ms. Flis and all English and related AP students giving up Saturday to participate in additional Advanced Placement coursework preparation.  Your hard work is bound to pay off, Warriors!

Harlem Wizards ARE Back! Tickets Now on Sale!

Important Notes from NRSD Nursing

Families and students are reminded that students are not allowed to carry medications on themselves/their person in school, and nursing cannot hand off medication to students for transportation to and from school.  These protocols are in place to comply with specific provisions with our handbook and Massachusetts law.  If you have questions about how to navigate medication your child needs at school, please contact our nursing department.  A member of our team will assist you promptly.  Contact information for our HS nursing team:

10th grade students will be screened for height, weight, BMI, vision and hearing coming up on January 23rd and 24th (state requirement).  Thanks very much for your support in NRHS adhering to these important protocols.  It’s appreciated.

Valentine’s Day is Coming!  Looking for a Date Night..?

NRHS Volunteer Club has you covered.  You are welcome to drop off your children for babysitting with our Volunteer Club.  If free babysitting helps you take some time for yourselves, then here’s the information, which includes supervision, snacks, food, a movie, and crafts.  Please note that younger children will be supervised by NRHS students, who will be supervised by club advisors (faculty).  Note that all families dropping off students will need to sign a liability waiver.
