Principal’s Flyer #7: October 1, 2023

Dear Students & Families:

We hope you are enjoying a lovely fall weekend, with (hopefully/gratefully) some enduring sunny weather today.  Students and families, please don’t forget to check your Term 1 progress reports to see how you/your child has started the year. Progress reports are active in the community portal, and teachers have gradebooks up to date so you can catch a snapshot of how things are going thus far this year.

When you’re logging in to check grades, parents/guardians are also reminded that the student/family handbook must be signed.  With some major activities upcoming this month, including athletics events, homecoming week, Warrior Fest, etc., it is imperative students have a fully signed handbook (by parents/guardians) in order to participate.  Thank all for attention to this item, and checking in on grades.  We appreciate tremendously your involvement in our students’ high school experience.

Today we’d like to shout out the 60 our so ‘Gansett students who attended the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) College Fair Last week.   We are seeing an increase of Warriors attending college fairs and campus visits thanks to our Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Early College College program, and Project Lead the Way STEM program in conjunction with our students’ motivation. Kudos Warrior students, and thanks to Ms. Donnelly and Ms. Jasinski for making this our visit to the college fair happen!

Reminder: Save the Date!  October 21, 2023. Warrior Fest

Varsity Letterman’s Club puts on a major district wide event known as Warrior Fest.  VLC brings out food trucks, games and activities for kids, capped with an evening home Saturday night football game and professional fireworks display sponsored by VLC/NRSD.

Homecoming Dance & 8th Grade Dance

Please be advised there will be a homecoming dance for Grades 9-12.  We hold a Grade 8 Dance later in the fall for Grade 8 students.

The VLC Homecoming Dance is Friday, October 20th at the Otter River Sportsman’s Club from 7-10. Tickets go on sale at both lunches beginning Tuesday, October 10th. Ticket sales end Friday, October 13th. Tickets are $15. No tickets will be sold at the door. Guest forms are available now through the office or your English teacher. Guest forms must be completed and turned in before guest tickets will be sold.  Please be advised that students who have not signed the handbook will be unable to purchase tickets to the homecoming and/or grade 8 dances.

BIMAS Screener, Begins Monday, October 2nd

BIMAS Survey.  Please be reminded that we will conduct our routine, beginning of the year screening of students’ behavioral social and emotional skills/functioning.  For complete details regarding the BIMAS survey, please review this letter, sent to families by the NRSD Care Team.
