Principal’s Flyer #40: June 11, 2023
Dear Warrior Students & Families:
Welcome to our penultimate update for the 2022-2023 school year! Big thanks goes out to everyone who donated or showed up to the BBQ Meat Raffle last Friday night to support the class of 2024! We appreciate you, and hope you all had a good time at the Baldwinville American Legion! Thanks to our student volunteers, student emcees Joey Pineyro and Raymond Thomas, and of course, to class advisors Mr. Wightman and Mr. Donofrio for coordinating this event!
To begin this memo, we’d like to celebrate student leadership that is ongoing at NRHS. Eliza Vello, who participated last week in a leadership/citizenship conference called Mass Star. At Lasell University, Eliza participated in leadership activities and a socio-economics simulation aimed at cultivating identity and leadership as citizenship intersects with sociology, politics, and governance. Eliza participated in a number of workshops with youth leaders from around Massachusetts. Please find a couple photos of Eliza engaged in the work, here! Bravo Eliza!
Secondarily, an advanced shout out goes out to our dozens of US History and Civics students that are working on Civics Action projects aimed at addressing an issue of our time. Students are researching, proposing, and incubating ideas for addressing challenges in our community and engaged in everything from petitioning for new systems, writing lawmakers, presenting ideas to Dr. Casavant, and raising awareness and/or money for causes that matter to them. Be on the lookout for pictures of our civic actions project online over the next couple weeks. And thanks to Ms. Remillard, Ms. McLaughlin, Mr. Bell, Ms. Charrier, and Mr. Eiben for supporting civics action project work at NRHS.
And last but certainly not least, we’d like to thank all students who had the conviction to run for class officer positions this spring. Especially in the high school setting, it takes tremendous courage to be willing to step up and lead your classmates and help shape the direction of a school. Kudos to all who ran! Here are your spring election results for Warrior Class Officers!
