Principal’s Flyer #34: April 30, 2023
Dear Warrior Students & Families:
Welcome to May everyone! We sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed the rainy weekend and are looking forward to a busy May. This weekend was a great one for performances. We’d like to congratulate our cast, crew, advisors and parent volunteers for three days of musical performances of Wizard of Oz by Narragansett Theater Company, with our last performance concluding this Sunday night. Given the timing of performances, please check out photos of the performances on social media over the course of this week! And if these musical performances have left you wanting more, please consider coming out to support The Little Mermaid, presented by Holy Family Academy. Performances will be held on Friday, 5/5 and Saturday, 5/16. See this poster for showtimes and tickets.
Advanced Placement students are reminded that AP Exam testing begins this Monday. Ms. Donnelly, our AP Testing Coordinator and your AP teachers have reminded you of your exam times. Over the course of this week, students inducted into an Honors Society will be reminded by their advisor of our yearly induction ceremony. This year’s ceremony will be held in either Safka Gymnasium or Putnam Gymnasium depending on the weather. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 6:00 PM, beginning with light refreshments with formal ceremonies commencing at 6:30 PM. Advisors will communicate details directly to student inductees.
Prom Safety and Senior Week Advanced Planning |
Juniors and Seniors advised that we will hold a mandatory prom safety program called GAAP, which is a collaboration between the Templeton Police Department, Templeton Fire Department, Worcester County’s District Attorney Joseph Early’s Office, and Narragansett Regional School District.
This presentation will include a number of stations and events to help educate NRHS students on intelligent decision making alongside a celebration of our Warrior prom traditions. Here’s a picture of Senior Class Advisor Ann Lyons accepting this grant from Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. and Templeton Police Chief Bennett last week. Thanks again to our community partners for supporting a robust, meaningful program this year.

Narragansett Middle & High School Memorial Day Observance: May 26th |
On Friday, May 26, beginning at 1:15 p.m., Narragansett High School and Middle Schools will hold a Memorial Day Observance in the Elinor J. Putnam Gymnasium. This observance has been coordinated by retired Music Director Mr. Stephen Babineau in cooperation with the Narragansett Administration and the Baldwinville American Legion Post since 2011.
The program is essentially the same as the program held at the Winchendon Veterans’ Cemetery. This year’s guest speaker will be Rev. Francis Roberge, pastor of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Baldwinville. Fr. Roberge has participated in scores of military funeral services at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Cemetery in Winchendon.
The public is invited to this event. The facility is handicapped accessible. Veterans are encouraged to wear insignia showing their branch of service. For more information, contact Principal Colby Young of Narragansett High School at 978-939-5388 and/or at cyoung@nrsd.org. Download the press release here.
