Principal’s Flyer #33: April 23, 2023

Dear Warrior Students & Families:

We sincerely hope everyone had an enjoyable vacation, and are returning to school schedules feeling rejuvenated and ready to embrace our home stretch of the year with tremendous energy.  We would like to say thanks to all for a great week of conferences prior to break, and wanted also to take a moment to celebrate Warriors accomplishments you may have missed on social media prior to break!

Congratulations to the 50+ chess players who competed in our Chess Tournament during conference week. Given the number of students we’ve observed playing chess games during lunch, we were unsurprised by a good turnout, but a tournament field including nearly 10% of the school really was extremely striking.  Special thanks to Dr. Conley and Dr. Worden, co-club advisors, for putting on an outstanding tournament.  And of course, bravo to our winners: Aidan Liang (3rd place), Quinn Wiedle (2nd place), and Anthony D'Angelo (1st place, tournament champion)!

Congratulations also to Ms. Richard's Math students, who competed in the Elizabeth Haskins Math competition on Friday, April 14th at Fitchburg State University. Special congratulations to Jacob Pervier (3rd place), and Katherine Longmuir (2nd place) for their respective awards amidst tough competition.  Here’s a photo of Jacob and Katherine, and kudos to our mathematics participants representing NRHS in mathematics competition.

Looking forward, please be advised we’ll have a very busy spring season, including among other things: Advanced Placement Exams and MCAS during early and mid May, the 8th grade DC class trip and Senior class trip, and showings of The Wizard of Oz: The Musical.  To get your tickets for a Wizard of Oz showing, please visit: http://nrsd.booktix.com/.  Students have been working hard on this production during school and over break, we look forward to seeing you at a performance!

Prom Safety and Senior Week Advanced Planning

The upcoming break marks the beginning of the home stretch for our class of 2023.  After 12 - glorious - years of learning, seniors are looking toward post-HS graduate life.  Students, friends, and families of seniors are advised that the Senior Week schedule is attached here.

Additionally, with prom tickets on sale, please be advised that we will hold a mandatory prom safety program called GAAP, which is a collaboration between the Templeton Police Department, Templeton Fire Department, Worcester County’s District Attorney Joseph Early’s Office, and Narragansett Regional School District.   This presentation will include a number of stations and events to help educate NRHS students on intelligent decision making alongside a celebration of our Warrior prom traditions.   Special thanks goes out to Senior Class Advisor Ann Lyons for working tirelessly to coordinate this program, and for obtaining a special grant to fund meaningful prom safety modules to educate our Warriors.
