Principal’s Flyer #29: March 19, 2023

Dear Warrior Students & Families:

Welcome to Spring!  With March 20th marking the first day of spring, we’re hoping you were able to shake off the snow storm and enjoy some spring-like weather on Friday.  Special shout out to start this memo goes out to all of our staff chaperones from both the high school and middle school for chaperoning our St. Patrick’s day Semi-Formal on Friday night.  These dances are always special occasions, and it’s wonderful to see students enjoying their high school experience.  Thanks to all our dance goers for exemplary decorum at the dance, and special thanks to Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Charrier for organizing this event! Again, these events are not possible without a multitude of staff volunteers for concessions, chaperoning, ticket sales, and supporting good times for students generally.  We’re grateful for staff support, and, of course, the student DJing abilities of one Ms. Gianna Braccini.

Special shout outs also go out to NRSD Performing Arts students, who are performing in the Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day parade today.  You can find information about and livestream the parade here!  And speaking of our Varsity Cheer Team, we wish the team luck as it competes for the National Championship in Orlando Florida!  Good luck to our Warriors, and we’ll keep you posted via social media and our NRSD app.   And In the meantime you can check out the feature run on this incredible team in the Gardner News!

Finally, we’re also celebrating our many Juniors who attended the College Symposium at Mount Wachusett Community College last Friday.  Big thanks to Ms. Donnelly, Ms. Jasinski and our Early College partners at MWCC for making this event possible for students.  Here are some photos of events students participated in alongside a variety of schools in order to get familiar with the ins and outs of college going.

Mass Insight Education & Research Awards Ms. Nicole Hemlin

We are proud to announce that Mass Insight Education & Research has named Ms. Nicole Hemlin as the organization’s 2023 Lawrie A. Bertram Partners in Excellence Award recipient.  Here is the press release from the organization:

This award is in memory of Lawrie Bertram, who passed away much too soon.  Lawrie’s dedication to her students represents the standard that we all strive to achieve in our work.  When asked what she taught her students, Lawrie’s reply was always “to think.” She was a role model to all of us and, in cooperation with her family, we have established this annual award to keep her memory close to our hearts and to inspire us to be the best we can be every day in our work and community. We can think of no more deserving educator than Nicole to receive this award. - Susan F. Lusi, Ph.D., President & CEO

Ms. Hemlin will be honored for her commitment to her students and to the AP STEM and English program on Monday April 3rd at the College of the Holy Cross.  Bravo to Ms. Hemlin for her excellence in education.
