Memo heading

Memo headingNMS has a culture of continuous improvement--improvement in every aspect of teaching & learning and the student experience in order to support students being productive at their highest levels. We are in the business of student achievement and building a positive school culture--these are the only agendas at NMS that count!

snow 🎉 NMS would like to wish all of our families and the community a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! We are looking forward to 2025 after a rejuvenating and refreshing holiday break!

The Leo Club says "Thank You to all who supported our annual toy drive!”

leoThere was a huge response from our generous NRSD community. The toys will be delivered to the Templeton Food pantry who will distribute them to local families in need. Thank so very much and Merry Christmas!

plowInclement weather, snow / ice delays and cancellations will be sent by the district when decisions about school have been made and you will receive automated calls and texts. Please be sure your most updated contact information is on file with the schools. Posts will also be made on the Narragansett Regional School District's Facebook page. Snow days will impact the last day of school, which will be noted in Important Dates & Reminders, below, as well as being listed in the Events section of the NMS website.

Please weigh in on THIS week's question:

What is your New Year's Resolution?

✏️Thank you for your input in last week's:

What was the best part of YOUR December 5th snow day?

🎉 Congratulations to our newest students of the month!

Students of the MonthChosen by staff, Students of the Month exemplify the core values of NMS, which include respect, perseverance, and integrity.  Students of the Month are also those who strive to meet our Shared Expectations of Be Nice, Work Hard, No Excuses, and Good Choices!  This month's selectees were recognized during the pep rally on Friday before break! Before vacation we enjoyed a festive Spirit Week for students and staff!

Spirit Week included an unforgettable pep rally on Friday, December 20 that culminated in a military homecoming that we got to celebrate with one of our students with, by surprising him with his father, who just returned after a nearly year-long deployment in Iraq !

peppeppepAt Friday's fun-filled pep rally (above), students played games organized by the grade-level and unified arts teams, competing in some-silly, some-difficult games and dance challenges.

Spirit Week

Thank you to the NMS Student Council for organizing the event, and to everyone who participated! "Holiday Spirit" day brought out some particularly festive gear (Mrs. Bosselait and Mrs. Cormier sport their upside-down elf booties, left and some of the 7th grade team show off their festive best below).

Individual classrooms participated in holiday-themed activities as well, including Mrs. Capps' 5th grade ELA classes, which decorated "Ugly Sweaters" and competed for awards for their entries (bottom).

Spirit WeekSpirit WeekBelow: after the pep rally during dismissal, NMS's Music teaching duo, Ms. Melissa Sommer (left) and Mr. Greg O'Connor (right), treated the exiting students and staff to holiday music in the lobby! Ms. Sommer and Mr. O'Connor played seasonally-themed songs to celebrate the coming holidays and send everyone off on vacation on a high note!

head😃 Get involved! Join a Club or Activity!

NMS offers several ways for students to get involved beyond the school day. Students should listen for morning announcements, read The Friday Memo, and watch the lobby whiteboard and monitor for announcements regarding club start dates, directions for joining, and when the club runs. Clubs meet right after school and end in time to catch the late bus!
