😃
NMS has a culture of continuous improvement--improvement in every aspect of teaching & learning and the student experience in order to support students being productive at their highest levels. We are in the business of student achievement and building a positive school culture--these are the only agendas at NMS that count!
Welcome Back!
We have had a phenomenal first week and a half of school, with a wonderful sense of excitement as students, faculty, and staff returned. Please be on the lookout for the grade-level teams to share information via email about what's going at each grade level in these first weeks. If you have questions and would like to contact any of our teachers or staff, you can find their contact information in School Brains or by clicking here.
Thank you to all of our families who attended our recent events at NMS, including this past week's Open House!
On Wednesday, August 21, our annual 5th Grade Orientation event, we had over 100 families come to hear about the transition to Narragansett Middle School and tour the facility! Thank you to our amazing Student Council Ambassadors (shown, below, with Buddy the Elf) for being wonderful hosts and helping to guide our newest Warrior families around on such an important evening.
Middle and bottom: Student Council Ambassadors who hosted our incoming 5th Grade families take a break to pose with Buddy, who is also excited about starting at NMS! 😁
🥳 Meet the Narragansett Middle School Teachers and Staff!
School staff are a busy bunch--anyone we couldn't get this week, we will track down and make sure we get them next week!

🗓 Important Information for Any Student Staying After School & Late Bus Details!
Students who remain after school must be with a school-related activity (club or sports), or meeting with a teacher. Students are not permitted to loiter on school grounds after dismissal. The district offers a late bus to students on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday which departs from the rear parking lot at 2:55 p.m. sharp. Any student looking to utilize the late bus must be aware of two important details:
The late bus does NOT follow routes of the morning or afternoon buses that bring students to and from school. Check HERE for the list of stops the late bus follows; and
ALL students riding the late bus must obtain a pass from the teacher with whom they stayed after school. Students will not be permitted on the late bus without a valid pass from the teacher the student was with after school.
😃 Get involved! Join a Club or Activity!
NMS offers several ways for students to get involved beyond the school day. Students should listen for morning announcements, read The Friday Memo, and watch the lobby whiteboard and monitor for announcements regarding club start dates, directions for joining, and when the club runs. Clubs meet right after school until the late bus
Intramurals have already been announced, and permission slips have been collected this week. Any student in grades 5 and 6 wishing the play Intramurals (dodgeball will be the first activity this year) should obtain a permission slip from Miss Eaton (PE / Health) or from the main office and return in before play begins on Monday, September 16. Any questions about intramurals can be emailed to Miss Eaton: aeaton@nrsd.org. The permission slip can be accessed here if you'd like to print it out at home and send it in with a 5th or 6th grader!
Art Club will start Thursday, October 10th and meet weekly on Thursdays! See Mrs. Dupuis for details!
Stay tuned for sign up information for Yearbook Club, International Club, and Student Council!
