  • Thursday, June 6: Grade 6

Please remember to send your student to school prepared for a day outside with proper clothing, footwear, fully sunscreened, and with a water bottle! Look for emails from the grade-level teams for more information coming soon!

🛣 The Grade 5 and Grade 6 field trips are also coming up, so please pay close attention for any information that comes home from the teams about specifics!

  • Wednesday, June 5: Grade 6, Canobie Lake Park

  • Thursday, June 6: Grade 5, Old Sturbridge Village

🚌 Late bus riders: please note that the last day for the late bus will be Thursday, June 6! After that time, transportation after dismissal will be limited to the usual bus runs but will not include a late bus option. Please plan accordingly.

Image of the Lost & Found📚 PLEASE CHECK THE LOST AND FOUND! We have an abundance of high-quality items that have been left behind and stored in our lost and found. Coats, jackets, clothing, water bottles, etc., have been accumulating and on display for students all spring. These items will be donated if not retrieved by June 7.

Student drawingStudents in Ms. Cosentino's 6th Grade Literacy in Action completed a project on "Blackout Poetry"! After spending some time completing poetry analyses of traditional poets like Emily Dickinson and Robert Frost, students studied free verse and illustrative poetry, acknowledging how the format and imagery can help to emphasize the mood, tone and overall theme of a writing. Given an option of 6 random pages of writing samples from books and articles, students were asked to create an original piece of poetry. Students had to "blackout" any words they did not use for their poem by creating a picture that helped support what words remained, ultimating making "Blackout Poetry" (see samples, here). This process, which is fun for students, is a creative way for students to apply and practice concepts in English Language Arts. Check out the awesome example, left!

🧳 7th Grade Ecology School 🌿 It has been another incredible week at Ecology School!  Students have been busy, and will no doubt be tired when they return, but they are having a great time and learning a lot during this annual week-long adventure!  Thank you to our faculty, staff, and adult family chaperones for their time and help this week; this trip couldn't happen without your amazing support!  Below are just some pictures from the week that we've received so far!

❤️‍🩹 Nurse Notes

From NMS Nursing:

  • Friendly reminders from the Health Office…

    • With cold and flu season in full swing, please remind your students to wash hands FREQUENTLY, bring a water bottle THAT SEALS to school, and to NOT touch their face and mouth.

    • For ALL medical absences (COVID, flu, strep, etc.) we require doctors notes to make absences excused

    • Please be mindful of the ill exclusion protocol, which can be found in the handbook. If you have any questions, please reach out to us!

  • Field trip season is here!!! If your student requires any emergency medications (such as an Epipen, inhaler, etc.), PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE drop them off to the health office at your earliest convenience (if you have not done so already).

  • We now have a Telehealth Cart in the health office, to rule out acute illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, contagious illnesses, etc.. If the nursing staff deem your student appropriate for a telehealth visit, with your permission, we will get your student seen by our partnering Nurse Practitioner. ANY questions, please contact me.
