📣 MAJOR changes this week with Term 3 closing Monday and new Unified Arts classes starting TUESDAY! All students must check School Brains for their Term 4 Unified Arts Classes BEFORE TUESDAY! Report cards will be coming out Friday, April 5 at 3 p.m. on the School Brains Portal, but knowing what UA classes students have is imperative before Term 4 starts. Also.....

🗓 MCAS STARTS MONDAY!!  Click here for the Narragansett Middle School MCAS calendar!  Please avoid any unnecessary absences during MCAS and whenever possible, avoid scheduling appointments during testing that will require students to miss classes for make up sessions. Also, please be sure students are supported at home by having them charge their Chromebook fully each night and remember their charger each morning as well. Getting a good night's sleep and eating healthy meals will also make this testing period go more smoothly.

🎉Congratulations to our newest Students of the Month!   On Wednesday, March 27, the NMS student body and staff gathered in the Safka Auditorium to celebrate our latest group named Students of the Month!  These students, selected by staff members, are chosen because they exemplify the core values of Be Nice, Work Hard, No Excuses, and Good Choices, which are the foundation of NMS's Shared Expectations. You don't have to be AT our Solar Eclipse Party to enjoy it, but you DO need to follow some simple tips to enjoy it safely! Click here for some very practical, easy-to-follow advice on viewing this once-in-a-lifetime event safely! Don't risk your eyesight for a momentary thrill!
Permission slips are coming in FAST and we have more than 150 received already!

☀️ It's coming....are YOU going?  Do not miss the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse or our NMS Solar Eclipse Party on Monday, April 8th!  NMS is celebrating this exciting event with students in grades 5-7, who will be invited to return the permission slip (handed out last week in science classes) to attend a party with classmates and staff to view this unique and awe-inspiring sight.  The NRSD Snack Shack will be open, selling food and drinks  (click here for the menu). Peaking just before 3:30 p.m., the eclipse will conclude and student should plan to be picked by 4:00 p.m. Certified* eclipse eyewear will be provided for safe solar viewing.   Eclipse glass availability is limited, so don't delay returning permission slips!  *Eclipse glasses purchased from certified dealer EclipseGlasses.com, an American Paper Optics subsidiary.  Click here to see a short video about the event! 

🎶Mark your calendars! Join us on Tuesday, April 9 for the combined NMS / NRHS Spring Concert! Sure to be a highlight of the season, the culminating event showcases the hard work done by our students and teachers in the music departments at the middle and high schools. Don't miss this perennial favorite evening!

💉A  COVID Vaccine  clinic has been scheduled for Thursday April 11, 2024 3:00-6:00 PM in the Narragansett Middle School Cafeteria. This clinic is open to anyone age 12 and up who wishes to be vaccinated. The CDC recently approved a booster dose for anyone 65 and older as long as it's been 4 months since their last dose.  Please Click Here to sign up.

🪙 Penny Wars ended this week! Stay tuned for totals and which grade triumphed!! THANK YOU to StuCo for organizing and running this fun event. All proceeds go to charity.

Congratulations to the winners of the Leo Club Easter Basket Raffle! Pictured below are the lucky winners of the Leo Club Easter basket raffle, Aubry Kelly and Padric Thornton). They will enjoy stuffed animals, small toys, stickers and fun Easter themed items. All proceeds from the raffle will go to charity. Thank you to all who participated in this worthy cause. All proceeds go to charity. Our Leo Club members did an awesome job creating these beautiful Easter Baskets to raise funds for charity. They are  filled with stuffed animals, small toys, stickers and fun Easter theme items!

 📣 A reminder that any student who remains on school grounds after dismissal must be scheduled to stay with a teacher, or NMS activity.  For safety and security reasons, students are not permitted to loiter in or around the building when the day is over.  Don't forget that all students riding the late bus are required to have a pass signed by the teacher with whom they stayed after school.

• Friendly reminders from the Health Office…

  • With cold and flu season in full swing, please remind your students to wash hands FREQUENTLY, bring a water bottle THAT SEALS to school, and to NOT touch their face and mouth.

  • For ALL medical absences (COVID, flu, strep, etc.) we require doctors notes to make absences excused

  • Please be mindful of the ill exclusion protocol, which can be found in the handbook. If you have any questions, please reach out to me!

• Field trip season is here!!! If your student requires any emergency medications (such as an Epipen, inhaler, etc.), PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE drop them off to the health office at your earliest convenience (if you have not done so already).

• We now have a Telehealth Cart in the health office, to rule out acute illnesses such as strep throat, ear infections, contagious illnesses, etc.. If the nursing staff deem your student appropriate for a telehealth visit, with your permission, we will get your student seen by our partnering Nurse Practitioner. ANY questions, please contact me.
