👟 Congratulations to the Narragansett Middle School Outdoor Track team for an outstanding season! On Saturday, June 10, teams attended the Massachusetts Middle School Track & Field Championship at Gardner High School. Below, NMS students show off their medals: (clockwise from top): Placing 8th in the 4 x 8 relay, Ellison Ambrogi (6th), Lillian Morrilly (NRHS), Twyla Keating (NMS) and Maya Starsiak (NRHS); Cam LaBonte placed 5th in the 100 m hurdles; and Jillian Cutler-Johnson placed 6th in the discus!
🥳 We've been treated to some interesting displays of Grade 6 History projects!
Mrs. Tominsky's sixth graders are finishing up a unit on the geography, history, and ancient civilizations of Central and South America and the Caribbean Islands. As a culmination project, each student selected one Latin American country to study independently, researched, and created a Google slide presentation to share with their class. Each country selected is represented with a student-created flag which was displayed during our unit.
⚽️ Fall Sports (Middle School grades 6 & 7) and Marching Band (open to grades 7-12) Registration is now open! Register early and don't wait. Information on the athletic program can be found here.
🎨The last extracurricular activities for the year are coming up! Only After-school Band continues this week on Tuesday and Thursday. Check below for specifics on your favorite after-school activities!
🚌 5th Grade had a great field trip to Old Sturbridge Village on Wednesday, June 14. Thank you to all of the 5th grade staff for their time in planning, as well as adult family chaperones who accompanied the students on this adventure!
🎢 6th Graders also had a successful on their field trip this week, to Canobie Lake Park! Thank you to all of the 6th grade staff members for their planning and adult family chaperones who accompanied this fun-filled trip!
📖 NMS yearbooks have arrived! Yearbooks that have been ordered and paid for have been distributed this week at lunch! If you didn't order yours ahead of time, no problem! Students can purchase a yearbook for $30 during lunch. All checks should be made out to Narragansett Middle School and they'll be on sale until supplies run out.
😎 Please be sure you are preparing your students for any outdoor activities they may participate in during the day at NMS by applying sunscreen in the morning! Physical Education teachers often hold lessons outside during the nicer weather, and there are a variety of other opportunities that teachers in other classes take advantage of as well. Applying sunscreen before school and / or supplying students with it to apply themselves at school is strongly recommended for any time of the year, but especially during these warm, sunny months. Good health habits include skin care, and sunscreen is an important step in protecting skin every day.
📰 Do you have newspapers you need to recycle? WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THEM! Mrs. Dupuis' Art students use newspapers for their sculpture projects, so any newspaper you are looking to discard, please consider donating it to NMS! We can take any clean newspapers you have in our main office. Thank you for your support!

🏥 End of year is fast approaching, please keep careful notice of the following from the Health office….
🩺
Please supply sunscreen to your students prior to the school day, if they are to participate in outside activities (especially field day and field trips).
If your student has medication at school, please make arrangements to have their medication picked up before the end of the year (i.e. scheduled/PRN medications, inhalers, epi pens). Any medication left behind will be sent to be destroyed. Please reach out to me with any questions.
Parents/guardians, please keep an eye out for mail from me regarding the vaccination status of your students. It is very important that students remain up to date on all vaccinations. As always, we honor religious/medical exemptions. If that is the case, please send an email to me at amckinnon@nrsd.org
