🗓 **Please note the change!** Term 3 dates have been amended and it will now close on April 6, to allow instruction missed for the snow days that fell during the quarter to be made up. Report cards will now be available in the School Brains portal after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13.
👉 Teacher Conferences will be held April 12 and 13, which will both be half days for students to accommodate afternoon conference sessions (there are no evening Spring conferences). Instructions and a link to make an appointment for a teacher conferences will be forthcoming in The Friday Memo when they become available.
👟 Please note: Athletic Registration for Middle School Softball and MS Baseball has closed, but Outdoor Track is still open. See the NRSD Athletics webpage for the link to register and more information on participating in MS sports.
🏐 Intramurals! Mr. Deacon distributed permission slips to NMS students in 5th and 6th grade this week, and all permission slips are due no later than Monday, March 13. Intramural play begins on Tuesday, March 14. If you need a permission slip to return on Monday, you can access one to print out here.
🖼 NMS 6th Graders will be traveling to the Worcester Art Museum on Friday, March 17! If you have questions about this field trip, please contact Mrs. Janet Dupuis, NMS Art teacher ( jdupuis@nrsd.org ) for more information.

💻 MCAS testing is coming! MCAS will begin on April 3 and go through mid-May. All grades, 5-7 will take two sessions each of ELA and math, and 5th grade only will also take two sessions of the science exam. Please be especially mindful of unnecessary absences during this six-week time, as the windows assigned by the state are limited in what make up time we have. All test dates have been finalized and can be found in Important Dates & Reminders. Any changes will be updated.
👣 The 2022-2023 Winter Walking Program is still available for a few more weeks! Narragansett Middle School will be open for walking to all Templeton and Phillipston residents and their guests, on Monday through Thursday from 4:30pm to 7:00pm through March 23, 2023. Walking will not take place on holidays, school vacations, or if school is canceled. Enter at the Middle School entrance, complete a Registration Form, and, wear an ID tag (provided). Student walkers must be accompanied by an adult. Questions? Call Central Office – 978-939-5661.
🌎 7th Grade Ecology School Field Trip Reminder! Seventh grade students are still able to register for Ecology School, which will be this spring during the week of June 5th – 9th! To register a student, go to the Ecology School website, click on School Programs, and select Overnight Programs. Follow the prompts, during which you’ll be asked to create an account; the group ID for NMS is Narragansett23. Mrs. Jen Chagnon, 7th Grade ELA teacher is the trip coordinator, and ALL checks should be made out to NMS (please put child’s name in the memo line). 5th Grade vision screenings will be happening this month. Stay tuned for more information as the schedule is finalized!
- Students should be reminded to bring glasses with them/wear their contacts for the screening, if they need them.
- Parents will be notified by myself if a student needs to be referred for a follow up exam with an eye doctor and available resources if needed.
- If any parent would like to opt out their student, or if their student's vision screen was already completed, please have their student bring in a letter to the nursing office, email amckinnon@nrsd.org, or have that information faxed to 978-939-8634.
