Please consider donating to Cradles to Crayons and support our local Project 351 selectees!
Two former Narragansett Middle School students, and current NMHS 8th graders William Maguy (Phillipston) and Kelly Taylor (Templeton), are representatives of Narragansett’s member towns to the annual “Project 351”, a campaign begun in 2011 by former governor Deval Patrick to promote and encourage students to participate in acts of community service to coincide with the Martin Luther King holiday. An 8th grade student from each of the 351 Massachusetts cities and towns is chosen by their respective local schools to participate in a day of city-wide service, leadership development, and community building. After an opening ceremony at Faneuil Hall in Boston on January 14, students participated in one of several valuable community service projects in the Boston area and then attended a wrap-up meeting. Additionally, Kelly and Will had the chance to meet many students from across the state, an opportunity that was fun, important, and unique. The program continues throughout the year, students will complete projects to promote civic responsibility and community-minded service as the year progresses, and we’re supporting that by asking for our school community to donate to Cradles to Crayons, an organization that works to fight children’s clothing insecurity. Please drop your donations in the Cradles to Crayons box in the NMS or NRHS lobby. Check out the Project 351 Facebook page and click here to read a short letter about the service project from NRSD Project 351 Ambassador, Kelly Taylor!
Project 351 attendees show their love in this "35OneLove" group photo, above (from the Project 351 Facebook page).
