Student Guide to Google Meet
Google Hangouts Meet is a voice and video chat application that's covered in the G Suite for Education core service. Google does not use any user personal information (or any information associated with a Google Account) to target ads for Education accounts.
Google has also signed the Student Privacy Pledge committing to safeguard student privacy regarding the collection, maintenance, and use of student personal information.
Getting Started with Google Meet
Make sure you are signed into your NRSD Google account.
If your teacher gives you a CODE/NICKNAME to join:
You must be logged in with your NRSD Google account to join a nicknamed session
Go to meet.google.com
Click "Join or start a meeting"
Type the nickname provided by your teacher.
Common problems:
The nickname isn't working
You have to be logged in with you NRSD Google Account. Go here and scroll down to "Logging into the Chromebook and Clever" to see videos on how to sign in with you Google account to Chrome.
If your teacher posts a link to a Google Meet:
Click on the URL that your teacher posted.
Click the green Join meeting button.
When asked to allow access to your camera and microphone, make sure to allow access.
Participate in your Meet session
Click on the microphone button at the bottom of the screen to mute your microphone until you need to speak to the group.
You will click it to unmute when you need to.
You can also turn your camera on and off with the camera icon.
The red phone icon is to leave the Meet.
Participate in your Meet session
Turn on captions to make spoken words in the session appear on the screen.

Go to the lock next to the URL. Make sure you have allow next to camera and microphone.
